New contemporary worship group

As a mission & outreach goal for 2011, the development of contemporary worship service has begun. The nature of this service will be a "Seeker" type worship, with focus on basic Theology and Christian values. This worship will mainly serve those with little understanding of or faith in God.

A core group of 7 interested persons met on August 30 to discuss the process of building this new congregation of people. A new worship service will not begin until 90-100 people have been gathered together to support the worship. This congregation will be build in 3 phases with the first phase lasting 3-5 months and will build the group to 30-40 people. This group will consist of some current church members who want to participate in creating the new service. The first group will also be open to other Christians in the community who may not have a church home and want a more contemporary setting for worship. Currently there are 12 persons thinking about this issue and have expressed desire to be a part of it.

The 2nd & 3rd phases will each cultivate 30-40 more people, and will reach out further to those in the community that want and need to know more about God. The actual "Seeker" service date will not be set until Phases 1 and 2 have been completed. In the growth of these first 2 phases, the groups will begin development of the new service. Discussions will center on the service style and format, along with needed space, equipment and people to make it happen. There will be no regular scheduled meetings. Small groups of people may meet to discuss issues during development. There will be a gathering at the end of Phase 1 for all in that group to begin phase 2.
